Nonwovens conference scheduled for November in Raleigh NC

Norcross, GA. - TAPPI’s NET (Nonwovens Engineers & Technologists) Division has announced that plans are underway for 2010 NET INC (Nonwovens Engineers & Technologists Innovative Nonwovens Conference). The conference will take place November 10-12, 2010 in Raleigh, N.C. USA.

Lace maker Noyon remains independent

Calais – Leading French lace manufacturer Noyon has emerged from administration after eighteen months of restructuring and is to retain its independence following takeover fears. Noyon’s status was finally decided by Boulogne-sur-Mer Court of Commerce on 18 March and the company says it is now back on the market with renewed confidence together with a brand new sales and marketing and manufacturing organisation.

Lenzing acquires Czech pulp producer

Lenzing - Lenzing AG, a company quoted on the Vienna stock exchange and a leader in the manufacture of cellulose fibres, has acquired a 75 % share in Czech pulp producer Biocel Paskov A.S. Biocel’s owner, Austrian company Heinzel Holding, will keep a 25 % share in the company and manage paper pulp distribution.

Defender M shirts for U.S. Marine Corps

Almelo - The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command has awarded a contract of 180,000 garments over 18 months for the U.S Marine Corps flame resistant Inclement Weather Combat Shirt (IWCS). This program was awarded to Short Bark Inc., a Venore (Tennessee, USA) based company, which has already begun production on these garments. TenCate Defense & Tactical, as a business unit of TenCate Protective Fabrics USA, will provide TenCate Defender(TM) M fabrics to fulfil the order. The garments will be distributed to U.S. Marines deployed abroad, such as those based in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).

DNA authentication for Tencel-bamboo blend

Meggen-Lucerne – Cellulose fibre producer Lenzing has announced it will partner Litrax AG to introduce a unique fibre blend of its Tencel lyocell regenerated wood pulp fibre and Litrax-1 natural bamboo stem fibres, which incorporates DNA in the bamboo fibre to provide authentication.

Obertshausen – Earlier this year Karl Mayer launched an upgraded and optimised version of its HKS MSU S weft insertion warp knitting machine. The German company says the new HKS MSU S machine not only enables a wider range of yarns to be processed, such as finer yarns, but is also more versatile when it comes to incorporating reinforcing yarns.
