Hawick
Cashmere manufacturer Dawson International, which owns the Barrie Knitwear manufacturing operation, has gone into administration. The company employs 180 people in the Scottish Borders town of Hawick.
Somewhere in Germany
adidas has released a video which shows how its new adizero Primeknit seamless running shoe upper is made. The high speed dynamic video which lasts just two minutes and thirteen seconds, shows the adizero Primeknit upper being made in a factory in Germany from start to finish.
The recent symposium on cosmétotextiles held at Interfilière Paris highlighted the growing success of these hybrid fabrics, as well as posing questions about their future.
A cosmetic textile is defined by the French Office for the Standardisation of Textile and Clothing Industries as “a textile article that contains a substance or a preparation that is intended to be released sustainably on to the different superficial parts of the human body, especially the skin, and which claim particular properties such as cleansing, perfume, change of appearance, protection, maintenance in good condition, or correction of body odours.”

Sir Chris Hoy became Britain’s most successful Olympian last night, taking his sixth gold medal in the mens keirin event at the London Velodrome. The highly anticipated victory topped a fantastic day for Team GB who won four golds, taking their tally to 22 gold medals, three more than they won at the Beijing games.
