New cushioning material for swimwear bra cups

Osaka - Teijin Fibers Limited, has developed what it says is the world’s first polyester-based cushioning material for swimwear bra cups, made with V-Lap, a vertically lapped nonwoven fabric that the company introduced in 2007. Swimwear incorporating the new bra cups will enter trial sales this summer, with full-scale sales and marketing planned for next year.

TenCate sells non-strategic associated company in Australia

Almelo - Royal Ten Cate (TenCate) and Noel P Hunt International Limited have reached agreement on the takeover of the TenCate 50% interest in the joint venture Geofabrics Australasia Pty Ltd of Cheltenham (Australia). The takeover price of the shares amounts to AUD 40 million (approximately € 23 million). The book profit on the sale of the 50% interest amounts to approximately € 11 million and will be incorporated in the half-year figures of TenCate.

Curtain of light offers energy savings for market gardens

Tampere - TAMK University of Applied Sciences in Tampere, Finland, has developed a unique warp knitted textile based lighting system intended for use in commercial greenhouses. The light required by the plants is produced by means of LED technology and is placed between the rows of plants. It is estimated that in the future the method will achieve savings of up to one half of the present vast need for energy in hothouses.
