If the mantra of the fashion business is change, then Eurovet, the parent organization of the Interfilière and Mode City shows, have proven themselves worthy. While some thought the show’s move from September to the earlier July date in 2011 would deter buyers, the organization happily reported an 8% increase in attendance figures for the fair, held July 9 – 11 at Paris’ Porte de Versailles.

Pitti Immagine Filati Florence opened with optimism and closed with satisfaction. Buyer numbers were up, foreign buyers +7.4% - especially from Japan and the US. The total numbered around 5,250 buyers. Spinners reported that they were looking seriously for a quality offer with strong fashion content but also were extremely price sensitive.

Oswal Woollen Mills invests in alternative energy sources
India’s leading vertical knitwear producer Oswal Woollen Mills is investing Rs 60-crore (US$ 13.5 million) in a wind power venture in the country’s Tamil Nadu and Karnataka regions. Oswal, which owns the knitwear ‘superbrands’ Monte Carlo and Canterbury, has already signed up to a Rs 350 crore (US$ 78 million) solar energy project which goes on stream in December this year.
